They didn't spit in their holes in the movie but they did in the book. Mr Pendanski got called Dr in the film.

In the book they carried jars full of water from the sploshe that they ate. And in the movie they didnt

In the book Zero did not hire any private investigators to find out what happened to his mum and at the end Stanley did not live next door to Zero.
